It is with great sadness that the death of Keith Bowler is announced; he passed away on Saturday 7th March 2015 in Sydney, Australia.
He was a long time patriarch and personal honorary member of the Oceania Table Tennis Federation; his contribution the sport of table tennis immense.
A quiet man, he was respected by all.
Most of you may not have known Keith; he was one of the founding officials of Oceania Table Tennis Federation in the 1970s along with Ken Wilkinson.
He and Ken were alternate ITTF Vice-Presidents for Oceania in the days when this position was applicable. Hopefully his work and achievements can be acknowledged at the next ITTF AGM in Suzhou
Keith was for many years Executive Director of the Oceania Table Tennis Federation, only relinquishing the post in the early 1990’s.
Notably, he is a Life Member of Table Tennis New South Wales and Table Tennis Australia. Keith was also recognised by ITTF for many years of work for Table Tennis worldwide.
Our condolences go to his family. The funeral will be held on the Thursday 19th March 2015.
I had the privilege of knowing and working with Keith in the 1980s and 1990s prior to his retirement and we had very good working relationship. He assisted me with his knowledge and experience for which I will be forever grateful.
Keith will go down in history as a great Table Tennis administrator and mentor to everyone associated with him over his time in the game.
It is now time to rest Keith and thank you from everyone in Table Tennis throughout the world.
